Trevoux, France

Trévoux is a commune in the Ain department in eastern France and is a suburb of Lyon. It is a quiet little town with a famous historical background, located on the left bank of the River Saône. At the top of the town is Trevoux's fortified castle which has an unusual octagonal tower.

Trévoux has some very impressive 15th - 18th century buildings. One of the main buildings is the old parliamentary building, the Hotel du Gouvernement de Dombes, which was built in the 17th to 18th century. Inside its 'Salle d'audience' are walls and ceilings covered in beautiful paintings. Other sights include the printing houses where the famous 'Trevoux Dictionary' was produced; the Villars gateway - a stone entranceway through the medieval fortifications, and a 17th century clock tower.
