Pillnitz is a city quarter in the east of Dresden, Germany. The best known sight of this quarter is the Japanese-styled chateau which is located directly at the river Elbe in the district Dresden Pillnitz. It is the old garden residence of the Saxon kings.

The Mountain-Palace (Bergpalais) and the Water-Palace (Wasserpalais) are arranged parallel to the river Elbe. Both buildings style of architecture is called "Chinoiserie", because they look like Chinese buildings. A large staircase up from the river Elbe provides direct access to the Water-Palace. There is mace labyrinth made of hedges in the park around the castle. Concerts are performed in the park during summer.

Port Location – The port is located on the Elbe River.

Transport Links – Bus line 83 stops directly at the castle. Tram line 1 and bus line 88 stop on the southern side of the river and you will need to take the ferry.

From Dresden drive towards the east along the Elbe River. If on the northern site, you will directly get to the parking aera (advisable). When arriving from the southern site, you will need to cross the Elbe on a ferry.

Paddle-steamers operate on a regular base to Pillnitz.
