Tangermunde is a town in the district of Stendal, in the northeastern part of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated north of Magdeburg at the junction of the Tanger with the Elbe river, an hour’s drive out of Berlin.

The town’s medieval history can be seen in narrow, curving cobblestone streets, ancient churches, half-timbered houses, and massive town wall complete with fortified gates.

The nearest airports are Tegel International, located north-west of Berlin, and Schoenefeld located southeast of Berlin. There are numerous direct flight connections between Berlin and major German and European cities.
