Carriacou is the largest island of the Grenadines,an archipelago in the Windward Islands chain. It is a unspoiled tropical paradise with lush mountains and pristine ivory sands. Carriacou's obvious attractions are the gorgeous waters - clear, warm, with white-sand sea floors, and there are always local boat operators willing to take you to the many nearby, uninhabited off-islands
The main settlements on the island are Hillsborough, L'Esterre, Harvey Vale, and Windward. Hillsborough’s Main Street is quite unattractive, however if you take a closer look you can see its history in the stone and shingled buildings, balconied second floors, and the beautiful, dressed-stone remains of a lime warehouse, being carefully and conscientiously salvaged in an overgrown lot.
