Djibouti

Djibouti is a country in the Horn of Africa. It is bordered by Eritrea in the north, Ethiopia in the west and south, and Somalia in the southeast. It is mainly a stony semidesert with scattered plateaus and highlands. The climate is very hot, humid and arid.

Sights in Djibouti include Lac Assal, which is the third lowest point on Earth and among the most desolate. The landscape is spotted with limestone chimney like formations, giving it a lunar type appearance. There is a lively market near the Mosque, and many good local restaurants. Nearby are beaches at Dorale, 11km (7 miles), and at Kor Ambad, 14km (9 miles) away.
