Midvagur is a small village with about 1.100 inhabitants.
In Midvagur you will find one of the oldest house on the island of Vágar. It’s called Kalvalío, and was originally used to rehouse widows of priests from about 1600 and thereafter.
Midvagur has also been the home of the priests on the island for centuries, and has a lot of stories about such.
Due to the high number of British soldiers stationed here during World War 2, Midvagur also has a separate cemetery where those who died while posted on the Faroe Islands were laid to rest.
