Pontailler-sur-Saône is a commune in the Côte-d'Or department in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region, 30 km east of Dijon.
The historic heart of the village developed in the Middle Ages on a loop in the form of a peninsula between the Saône and Old Saône rivers that join to the south, while a canal connects them to the north. To the west of the territory, on the hill of Mount Ardoux, were built of the zones pavillonnaires.
The history of the locality is linked to that of the Saône and to the many small streams that flow into the river. Fords and then a port welcoming barges participated in its economic boom, while a castle now disappeared made of Pontailler a strong place.
The village, which has some 1,200 inhabitants, is now labeled "green station". A marina built in the 1990s and a leisure area allow to enjoy the Saône. This is a step appreciated by nature tourism enthusiasts.
