Tauranga is the largest city of the Bay of Plenty region of the North Island of New Zealand. It is located at the head of a large harbour which extends along the western Bay of Plenty. It is one of the major resort cities in New Zealand, famous for its beautiful beaches and is popular destination with retirees.
Tauranga has much to offer visitors, including excursions to Mayor and Motiti Islands, fishing trips (for big game and small) and scenic flights. The golden sands of nearby Mount Maunganui's magnificent ocean beach are popular with swimmers, sailors and surfers. Nearby is Wairoa River which is renowned for its canoeing and white water rafting.
