Established in 1652 as Delaware's first capital on the banks of the Delaware River, New Castle is a genuine colonial town.

New Castle has a one of a kind unique history with tree-lined cobblestone streets and brick sidewalks making historic New Castle extremely walkable. Restaurants, stores, churches of many denominations, a post office, library, bank, several parks and museums combine to make this a thriving town.

New Castle is the home of three signers of the Declaration of Independence: George Reed, George Ross, and Thomas McKean.
