Enmelen & Rudera Cape, Russia

Enmelen (meaning "craggy") is a village (selo) in the Providensky District of Chukotka, in the Far Eastern Federal District of Russia. It is situated near Cape Bering well over 200 km from Provideniya. The settlement is not connected by road to any other places. It is populated by a mixture of Chukchi and Yupik and near the village is the site of an ancient Yupik settlement.

The village is supported by a combination of reindeer herding and the hunting of sea mammals.

Enmelen has a Continental Subarctic or Boreal (taiga) climate. Cruises generally commence in late Spring (April/May) when there is not as much pack-ice and the season ends in September.
The shorter season reflects the more northerly (Arctic) latitude of the region, however daily temperatures can get to a pleasant 20c/70f through summer. April and September are cooler. Some expedition cruises start in NOME with significance being made to crossing the International Date Line where a day is either lost or gained, depending on direction.

Rudera Cape nearby, is a magical place to observe Arctic flora and fauna, particulary reindeer and deep sea creatures,
