Dezneva Bay, Russia

Dezneva Bay is in Russia's isolated far east region.

A cruise or expedition to this unique part of the world is primarily to observe a variety of wildlife, discover ruins from World War II and meet nomadic people.

Cruise ships anchor and passengers board Zodiac Inflatables to go ashore and join naturalists for a hike from the beach to a shallow coastal lagoon. The wildlife here is quite amazing - from the rarer Grey Whales to pods of Orcas and Minke Whales and hundreds of sea otters. Basalt stacks rise from the ocean, making tailor made resting and nesting spots for unimaginable numbers of seabirds including white-fronted Bean Geese and Swans.

Cruises generally commence in late Spring (April/May) and the season ends in September. The shorter season reflects the more northerly latitude of the region, however daily temperatures through the region are generally a pleasant 20c/70f through summer and can rise to the mid to high 20’s. April and September are cooler.
