Tanah Ampo, Bali, Indonesia

Tanah Ampo Cruise Terminal is located at Karangasem Regency, East Bali. Construction has only been completed in 2011, with plans to further extend the facility in the future. This East Bali region boasts natural habitat ranging from lush forest, black sand beaches to the mighty Mount Agung and popular seaside resort town of Candidasa.

Besakih Temple (Pura Besakih) is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Bali. It is considered by the Hindu Balinese to be their mother temple. This is the single most important temple on the whole of the island and is dramatically located on the slopes of Mount Agung.

Another attraction in the region is the Bali Aga (original Balinese) village, located in the hills 4km inland from Candidasa. The Bali Aga people have retained an ancient pre-Majapahit Balinese culture. The villagers maintain a strict adherence to ancestor worship, cosmology and other animist beliefs as well as a rigid social organization. Villagers must live inside the village, marry from within and the village is closed to outsiders after dark.
