Waikelo, Sumba

Waikelo is one of the main waterfalls in West Sumba, Indonesia. Sumba is an island in eastern Indonesia, is one of the Lesser Sunda Islands, and is in the province of East Nusa Tenggara.

Waikelo waterfall naturally surges with force out of a cave, but has some man-made help directing its flow into the rice paddies below. Visitors can swim in the pool below the waterfall and trek around the area.

Port Location - The main port of Sumba is located at the capital of Waingapu. Waikelo Harbour is 15 mins from the airport of Tumbelaka.

Travel Links - There is an airport relatively near to Waikabubak, yet the best way in is by way of the Sumba capital city of Waingapu, 140kms to the east. It receives short flights from Kubang (West Timor) as well as from the international airport at Denpasar, Bali in 1 hour, 20 minutes. Ferries come in from Kubang in the east and from Flores to the north.
