Coron, Philippines

Coron is both the name of a town on Busuanga Island and the name of an offshore island in the province of Palawan, Philippines. Both islands are part of the Calamian Group of Islands in northern Palawan. The main industries of Coron are fishing and tourism, being a popular diving location.

Coron Island is known for several Japanese World War II shipwrecks. The area around the wrecks has pleasant rock formations which provide for excellent snorkeling opportunities, with underwater visibility extending up to 80 feet (24 m). The aquatic views from the sunken Japanese warships are listed in Forbes Traveler Magazine's top 10 best scuba diving sites in the world.
