Cullochy Lock is located in Aberchalder, a small village on the north shore of Loch Oich in Highland region and is in the Scottish council area of Highland. Loch Oich (Scottish Gaelic: Loch Omhaich) is a freshwater loch in the Highlands of Scotland which forms part of the Caledonian Canal, of which it is the highest point. The Loch Oich wildlife is rich with a wide variety of fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.
The Caledonian Canal is a canal in Scotland that connects the Scottish east coast at Inverness with the west coast at Corpach near Fort William. The canal runs some 62 miles (100 km) from northeast to southwest. Only one third of the entire length is man-made, the rest being formed by Loch Dochfour, Loch Ness, Loch Oich, and Loch Lochy.
