Adria is a town and commune in the province of Rovigo in the Veneto region of Northern Italy, situated between the mouths of the rivers Adige and Po.
The Etruscan city of Atria underlies the modern city, 3-4 meters below the current level. Atria gave its name at that early period to the Adriatic Sea, to which it was connected through a number of waterways.
