Marseillan is a commune in the Hérault department in southern France. It lies some 50 km (31 mi) west of Montpellier. Marseillan sits on a large salt-water lake, the Étang de Thau and is the southern Entreport for the Canal du Midi. The town has many ancient Greek features and its history can be seen in the tiny streets, monuments, stones, gargoyles and individual doors of its houses.
Places to note are the historic town hall, St John the Baptists Church, La Maison de Famille d' Achille' and not to mention the dozens of other historical and cultural landmarks which can be found around Marseillan.
