Rogny Les Sept Écluses, Burgundy, France

Rogny Les Sept Écluses is a commune in the Yonne department in Burgundy in north-central France. The village is located some 50 km (31 mi) west of Auxerre and is crossed by the Loing and the Briare Canal.

Rogny Les Sept Écluses is famous for the staircase of seven locks from the 17th century, which is now classifed as a French monument. The 'staircase' has been replaced by a new layout which goes round the hill and the locks have fallen into disrepair. However, work is now taking place to refurbish some of the staircase.

Guided tours of the town (and the locks) are available by request from the tourist office. Visit also the Chateau de la Bussiere which stands in the middle of a lake and contains a varied collection of cars, paintings and ceramics.
