Lopes Mendes is a beach located on IIha Grande island, off the coast of Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil. The main attraction at Lopes Mendes is the beach itself. With its fine white sand and crystal clear waters, Lopes Mendes is ranked amongst the top ten beaches in Brazil. Visitors can enjoy swimming, strolling the beach or simply relaxing.
The entire island is a protected area, with most of its territory included in Ilha Grande State Park. It is one of the most pristine remants of Brazil's Atlantic rainforest, one of the richest ecosystems in the world, and a hotspot for biodiversity and conservation. It holds some of the largest remaining populations of many endangered species
