Located on the banks of Bhagirathi River in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal, Murshidabad is the last capital city of independent Bengal and known for its Mughal and British colonial history.

Many historical structures still exist in the city, which were built during the Mughal and British era. The Hazardauri palace is the prime attraction of the city. It was built by Duncan McLeod for Nawab Najim Humaun Jah. The palace is now a museum and showcases armoury, paintings and portraits of Nawabs.

The city of Murshidabad is famous for its mosques, tombs, gardens, raw silk and silk products and producing delicious mangoes and litchi.
