Mokpo, South Korea

Mokpo is a city in South Jeolla Province, South Korea, on the southwestern tip of the Korean Peninsula. It is a major port city surrounded by hill facing the sea. With more than 1400 islands within the coastal area, the Port of Mokpo enjoys rich fishing grounds, and it is the gateway to South Korea's most productive granary, the Honam Plain.

The old town area around Mount Yudalsan is of particularly interest, featuring architecture that dates back to the industrialization period of the early 1900s. On Culture Street, popular attractions include Gatbawi, a prominent natural monument, as well as a number of cultural experiences offered at the National Maritime Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Ceramic Livingware Museum, and the Culture Arts Center.
