The district of Anamur (meaning "windmill") is a town and district of the province of Mersin, on the Mediterranean coast of southern Turkey, between Antalya and the city of Mersin. The area features long beaches and clean sea.
This region which has a Mediterranean climate with long, hot and dry summers and cool, rainy winters is Turkey's southernmost point, featuring coastal points like Anamure Limani.
The climate here is the only part of Turkey that can sustain the local economy which depends on agriculture, especially bananas, strawberries, peanuts, papaya, pineapples and avocados.
Once past Cape Anamur few bays and islands are available to you, nor are small ports. This area is not frequented by boaters. The scenery is beautiful; the sheltered coves are few and solitary.
