Isla Larga (Long Island) is located within the Las Aves Archipelago, Venezuala. It is one of 21 islets and islands which make up the archipelago. The archipelago conists of two atoll-like reef complexes. Isla Larga is located in Aves de Sotavento, the western group.
At the south of Long Island are beaches of white sand with calm and crystal clear waters, coral reefs and mangroves . In contrast the north coast is rocky, with waves constantly hitting rocks.
Long Island is an excellent place to practice diving and snorkeling. The island offers a wide variety of marine life and beautiful coral around the German freighter "Sesostris", which sank in 1940. Another tradition is the latest extreme sport practice swimming in open water, the swimmers dive into the sea from Playa Huequito (on land), and return across the channel separating the mainland Long Island.
