Kampot is the capital of Kampot Province in southern Cambodia. The city is a quiet riverside town just a few kilometers from the Gulf of Thailand. Kampot is the base for trips up the Dâmrei and Bokor Mountains. Stunning panoramic views over Cambodia and Vietnam can be enjoyed from the mountain tops.
Popular attractions include waterfalls, boating and rafting on the river, the Kompong Trach caves with their ancient ruins and the durian and pepper farms. The little island of Koh Tonsay can be visited from Kampot by boat. Visitors can enjoy long stretches of golden sand and tasty local crab curry.

Travel Links – There are regular twice a day bus services from Phnom Penh to Kampot three companies: Hua Lin near Olympic Market, Capitol near Orasay Market and second rate Phnom Phen Sorya from the bus station on 217th street (near the central market).
You can also get to Kampot from Sihanoukville by a shared taxi or minibus, with Sorya bus, or with G'day Mate's western-runvan service. Most taxis depart from the traffic pickup point next to the market.
