Bay d'Espoir is the inner reaches of a large glacial carved fjord on the South Coast of Newfoundland. Communities in Bay d'Espoir are: Conne River/Miawpukek, Head of Bay d'Espoir, Milltown, Morrisville, St. Alban's (formerly Ship Cove), St. Joseph's Cove and St. Veronica's. The largest settlement is at St. Alban’s.
At Conne River visitors can explore the Miawpukek First Nation. This Mi'Kmaq reserve is the only one of its kind in Newfoundland. Visit the craft store or view the traditional canoe, which was built using traditional methods and materials, and was the means by which Newfoundland become a very important part of the Mi’Kmaq Nation. In early July visit the annual Powwow and experience traditional dancing and drumming and participate in a variety of activities that reflect the Mi'Kmaq culture in Newfoundland.
