Muroran is a city and port located in Iburi, Hokkaidō, Japan. It is the capital city of Iburi Subprefecture. Located on the island of Hokkaido, Muroran is relatively uncrowded and unspoiled with wonderful landscapes of forests, hot springs, active volcanoes and beautiful lakes.
Muroran has a great natural harbor, many outdoor sightseeing spots, and the Hakucho Bridge, the largest suspension bridge in eastern Japan. It extends over the entrance of the Muroran harbor and is illuminated at night, attracting tourists and citizens.
One of the most spectacular spots in Muroran is the night view of the Muroran Harbor from Mt. Sokuryo Observatory Deck which is on the summit of Mt. Sokuryo (199.6 m). You can see great panoramic views of Muroran and have a closer look of the 6 TV (antenna) Towers which are illuminated colorfully at night by donations from citizens.
