Alcoutim is a town in Alcoutim Municipality, Portugal. It is located at the extreme eastern part of the municipality on the Spanish frontier, just across the Guadiana River from the Spanish town of Sanlúcar de Guadiana in Huelva Province.
Its main attraction is Alcoutim Castle. It was built in the 13th century and the castle stands in a dominant position on a hill south of Alcoutim town on the right bank of the San Marcos River, its confluence with the Guadiana River. There is also some great architecture to view and several churches to visit. There is Alcoutim Dam nearby and a river beach next to Alcoutim Reservoir.
Nearby is the Cova dos Mouros Mine Park which shows how copper mining took place as far back as 2500BC.
