Puerto Montt is a fast growing city in the south of Chile, just north of Chiloé Island. It boasts great views of the ocean and towering peaks of the Andes, and is a centre for travellers heading further south along the carretera austral, or east to Argentina.

Port Location - Most ships dock at the Public Pier inside of Canal Tenglo. Very large ships, however, must tender to the same pier. The Public Pier is 9 blocks away from the center of town.
Transport Links – Puerto Montt has one airport, El Tepual, where three airlines have regular flights from Santiago, Punta Arenas, Balmaceda, Concepción, Temuco, and Bariloche (Argentina). The airlines operating at the airport are LAN Airlines (the country's largest), Sky Airlines, and Air Comet Chile. The flight to Santiago takes two hours.
There are daily bus departures from Santiago and from the neighboring cities to Puerto Montt.
