Rauma, Finland

Rauma is a town located on the west coast of Finland, 92 kilometres north of Turku, and 50 kilometres south of Pori. It is an idyllic seaside town steeped in culture and known for its high quality lace .

The heart of the town is Old Rauma, which is the largest preserved coherent medieval wooden town area in the Nordic region. In 1991 the area was selected for UNESCO's World Heritage Sites.

Since 1971, Rauma has hosted a 'Lace Week' at the end of July, when lace exhibitions draw enthusiasts from all over Finland and further afield.

Travel Links - Bus connections from Rauma to the Helsinki region, to the central cities of the neighbouring provinces and elsewhere in Finland are excellent.

The nearest airport is in Pori. A flight from Pori to Helsinki takes 45 minutes. To reach the international airport of Turku from Rauma takes an hour. There are three direct daily flights from Turku to the international airport of Copenhagen, which provides excellent connections to all over the world.

Rail Passengers from Rauma is by a bus service from the VR terminal on Karjalankatu Street in Rauma to the train service in Kokemäki. Buses provide a connecting service to the trains so there is no waiting time in Kokemäki.
