Point Sophia ( also referred to as lcy Strait Point) is located just down the road from the town of Hoonah, home to Alaska’s largest Tlingit community. Hoonah boasts immediate access to outstanding fishing and excellent whale watching. Humpback and killer whales are often spotted along the shores right in front of town. The waters of Icy Straits support a large and diverse population of marine mammals, fish and birds.
Attractions at Point Sophia include a visit to the Icy Strait museum and historic cannery, a ride on the world’s longest zip rider, bear viewing and fishing tours.
