Al Khums is a city in northwestern Libya on the Mediterranean Sea, about 97 kms southeast of Tripoli. Tourism is an important industry here with the famous Roman city of Leptis Magna 3 km east of the town. These magnificent ruins have deservedly earned a reputation of having the most complete and impressive Roman ruins in the whole of North Africa.
Al-Khoms has a few of its Ottoman and Italian buildings left. Along the eastern part of the city, there is a popular beach.
