Engelhartszell an der Donau is a municipality in the district of Schärding in Upper Austria, Austria. In 1293 the market town of Engelhartszell, founded by the famous Bishop Wernhard von Prabach from Passau was first mentioned as a "lovely place of recreation for body and mind".
Engelhartszell is rich in history and boasts a whole range of cultural highlights: the Abbey Church (among Austria´s most authentic Rococo buildings), the Baroque-style Parish Church, the imperial Toll Gate and the Energie AG culture center, the 400-year old black smithy and the picturesque buildings in the town center.
