Matacawa levu-Fiji

Matacawa levu is located in the Yasawa group of islands, which lie in a chain just off the northwest coast of Viti Levu, Fiji. The island chain begins about 40 kilometers northwest of Lautoka and stretch for approximately 80 kilometers.

Matacawa levu is one of the largest of the 20 islands in the group and is the only island in the Yasawa's to boast two beaches facing north and east. They are both beautiful and border lovely coral reefs where you can snorkel and explore.

On Matacawa Levu Island you can experience night diving with the locals or during the day, fishing for skipjack tuna in a local boat. A highlight is a roast pig or goat ashore on a deserted beach, where the villagers join in around a camp fire with guitars and a kava bowl. Hiking and reef exploration are other attractions on the island.
