New Harbor is located off the eastern coast of East Antarctica in the western Ross Sea. It is situated on the eastern edge of the Victoria Land Basin, which is one of several sedimentary basins in the Ross Sea.
Visitors to New Harbour can take a helicopter into the spectacular Royal Society Range. Land in the dry valleys, and surreal landscape of hypersaline lakes, hanging glaciers and wind-sculpted granite boulders. This area is only accessible by expedition ships with their own helicopters.
