Port Martin, Antarctica

Port Martin is located 62km east of Dumont d’Urville Station in Antarctica. It was originally a pioneering research station built in 1950 in Adelie Land. It is currently used as a weather station after being destroyed by fire in 1952.

The site is scattered with artefacts and has an Adelie Penguin rookery.

Transport Links – Port Martin is also accessible by boat from Hobart, Tasmania. The icebreaker ship Astrolabe carries supplies and personnel to the Dimopntd’Urville station. It does 5 round-trips between November and March.
