The Hawkesbury River, also known as Deerubbun, is one of the major rivers of the coastal region of New South Wales, Australia. It is located approximately 45 minutes drive from the centre of Sydney.The Hawkesbury River and its tributaries virtually encircle the metropolitan region of Sydney. The largest settlements on the river are the historic towns of Richmond and Windsor.
There are a number of islands, bridges, marinas and ferry crossings along the river.
As well as beautiful scenery, other attractions and activities in the area include visiting the numerous antique and craft stalls, touring the nearby glow warm caves, abseiling or canyoning. Stop and enjoy a wine at a historic Winery or visit one of the numerous orchards and pick your own fresh fruit to take home with you.
