Urk is a municipality and a town in the Flevoland province in the central Netherlands. It used to be an island and today is still a very traditional fishing village. Locals still wear traditional costumes and observe old fishing customs.
Attractions in Urk include the Hulp en Steun fisheries Museum which has models of fishing boats and other exhibits about the local fisheries. The Old Town Museum displays dolls in local costumes and exhibitions about the history of the village.

Travel Links – There are only busses going to Urk from Emmeloord and Lelystad but the former island is near the A6 highway. In the summer you can take the ferry from Enkhuizen. Urk has a small harbor which is directly connected to the IJsselmeer.
