Makkum is a village of Súdwest-Fryslân municipality, in the province Friesland of the Netherlands. The town has been famous since the 17th century for its Makkumer aardewerk (Makkum earthenware).
There are two manufactories of earthenware open to visitors in the town. There is also the Aardewerk Museum which offer handpainted ceramics for purchase.
