The Possession Islands are a group of small islands and rocks extending over an area of about 7 miles (11 km), lying in the western part of the Ross Sea, 5 miles (8 km) southeast of Cape McCormick, Victoria Land. These small, rugged islands lay offshore Cape Hallett and have been rarely visited.
Attractions include the Adelie penguin rookery, numbering tens of thousands of birds on Foyn Island. Views of the Admiralty Mountains across the water and the unusual rock formations and caves around the coast.
