Aschaffenburg is a city in northwest Bavaria, Germany. It is is located on both sides of the River Main in the southwest part of Germany, 41 kilometers (25 miles) southeast of Frankfurt am Main. The second river is the small Aschaff which flows in the western part of the town into the River Main.

Aschaffenburg is set amid the most scenic backdrop of mountains and forests along the Main River. The town is famous for its impressive Renaissance-style Castle of Johannisburg, which graces the bank of the river. Visit the monastery church of St. Peter and Alexander, the oldest church in the city. You can also see the half-timbered buildings around the market square.
