Kaliningrad, Russia

Kaliningrad is a seaport and the administrative center of Kaliningrad Oblast, the Russian exclave between Poland and Lithuania on the Baltic Sea. It is located at the mouth of the navigable Pregolya River/Pregel River, which empties into the Vistula Lagoon, an inlet of the Baltic Sea.

Originally part of Germany, the city consisted of three separate towns that grew around the walls of a 13th century castle. It became a part of Russia after World War I. The area of Amalienbau with its impressive German villas and tree-lined cobblestone streets is a reminder of the city's heritage. Visit the Amber Museum or tour the nearby attractive coast lands area.
