Kiev is the capital and the largest city of Ukraine, located in the north central part of the country on the Dnieper River. Kiev is an important industrial, scientific, educational and cultural centre of Eastern Europe. It is home to many high-tech industries, higher education institutions and world-famous historical landmarks.

Attractions in Kiev include the centre of Keiv, which features restaurants, clubs and outdoor cafes. Also in the city centre is the Besarabsky Market. Andriyivskyy Descent is one of the best known historic streets and a major tourist attraction in Kiev. The hill is the site of the Castle of Richard the Lionheart; the baroque-style St Andrew's Church. Kiev is also home to 40 different museums.

Transport Links – Boryspil International Airport is about 40 minutes from the city center. The city's second airport Zhulyany used mostly for domestic flights, is located 20 minutes from the center.

Kiev's central railway station is Kiev Passajirskij and is close to the city centre. Metro station Vokzalna (метро "Вокзальна") connects to the station. Direct day and night trains are available from all major cities and towns in Ukraine.

International buses stop at the central station, which is a squalid place that is anything but central. There are frequent direct buses of variable quality from Germany, Poland, and Moldova.
