Takapoto, Tua-poto or Oura, is an atoll in the Tuamotu group in French Polynesia. A tiny island, part of the Tuamoto Archipelago, Takapoto offers a lagoon to swim and snorkel in. Locals farm black lip oysters for Black Pearls. Fakatopatere, the main village on Takapoto, is located at the southern end of the atoll.

Two cruise ships/luxury liners currently ply the islands: the Paul Gauguin, which does a regular 7-day trip around the Societies, with occasional trips out to the Tuamotus, Marquesas and Cook Islands; and the Tahitian Princess which does similar itineraries.
