Fuzhou is the capital and one of the largest cities in Fujian province, People's Republic of China. Along with the many counties of Ningde, those of Fuzhou are considered to constitute the Mindong linguistic and cultural area. Fuzhou's core counties lie on the north (or left) bank of the estuary of Fujian's largest river, the Min River.
Attractions in Fuzhou include the “Three Lanes and Seven Alleys”, historic district which showcases over 200 residences from the Ming and Qing dynasties. The area is where mountains and rivers meet the sea. Plenty of mountains and waterfalls can be found inland, while sandy beaches are abundant in the coastal areas, especially in the town of Changle and the Island of Pingtan.
