Lauterbach is a town in the Vogelsbergkreis district of the federal state of Hesse in central Germany. It is a state-recognised health resort on the northern slopes of the Hoher Vogelsberg nature conservation area. The town also boasts two well-known castles Riedesel and Eisenbach and is also known for being the centre of Germany's garden gnome production.
Attractions in Lauterbach include one of the most beautiful rococo churches in this region known as Hesse. Here at the marketplace is the Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) with it's facade combining a ground floor of stone arcades and half-timbered upper reaches.
