200 kilometres off the coast of Gabon, lie the little-known islands of São Tomé e Príncipe. The mountainous forested islands are edged by beautiful sandy beaches which remain remarkably untouched thanks to their anonymity.
São Tomé itself is a pretty town with colonial Portuguese architecture and peaceful parks. Perhaps visit one of the island’s cocoa plantations, the dramatic sea water fountain of Hell's Mouth or tiny Turtledove Island which is crossed by the equator.
