The Mitchell Plateau and Falls are located in the Mitchell River National Park, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. The nearest towns are Derby which is 350 kilometres (217 mi) to the South West and Wyndham which is 270 kilometres (168 mi) to the South East.
The Mitchell river has carved amazing gorges into the limestone cliffs of the Mitchell Plateau. Giant palms proliferate in an open Eucalypt forest and is an ideal location to spot some of the unique wildlife such as quolls and wallabies as well as view sacred Aboriginal rock art.
