Amman, Jordan

Amman is the capital city of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the administrative capital and commercial center of Jordan. It is also the largest city in Jordan and a great base for exploring the country. It is an ethnically diverse city which is experiencing massive change from a sleepy village to a bustling metropolis.

Much of Amman's tourism is focused in the older downtown area, which is centered around the old souk (a colorful traditional market) and the King Hussein Mosque. The best district to explore is Jabal Amman where you will find the capital's greatest souks, fine museums, ancient constructions, monuments, and cultural sites.
