Boppard is a town in the Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis (district) in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, lying in the Rhine Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town is also a state-recognized tourism resort (Fremdenverkehrsort) and is a winegrowing centre.
Boppard is an historic town boasting Castles and stately homes, churches and monasteries, gardens and parks. Visitors will discover the town’s Roman roots at the remains of a Roman Fort which surrounds the town centre. The Electoral Castle stands in the town centre of Boppard and is now home to the town’s museum. Of special interest are the frescos in the former castle chapel dating 2nd half of the 14th century.
