Riesa is a town in the district of Meißen in the Free State of Saxony, Germany. It is located at the river Elbe, approx. 40 km northwest of Dresden. Locals believe that Riesa’s landscape was formed by a giant that once took a stroll through the Elbe River valley. The giant is now the town’s mascot, but the town is also known as the pasta center of Germany.
Attractions in Riesa include a pasta museum whichl shows the history, origins and production of this favorite food. There are over one hundred pasta varieties here. One of the most popular local restaurants is the Mediterranean-styled Macaroni.
